How to use DMI Wood Transfer Board
Using for Wheelchair
Mostly, these boards are used for transfer between bed and wheelchair. You can follow the below-mentioned steps for a comfortable and safe transfer from bed to a wheelchair:
- Sit on the edge of the bed with feet flat on the floor.
- Place the wheelchair very close to the bed and lock the wheels of the chair.
- Place one end of the board below your thigh. Leaning in the opposite direction from the board can make placing the board easier.
- Keep the other end of the board on the wheelchair seat.
- For easy movement on the board, use a fabric sheet and carefully move your body towards the second surface.
- Once completely settled on the wheelchair, you can remove the transfer board.
Using for a car
- Take the help of the caregivers to assist you while moving into the car
- Before moving into the car, make sure that the car seat is moved as far back as possible so that you get enough space to move.
- Take the support of the door to sit comfortably.
- Place one leg at a time in the car.
- After proper positioning in the car seat, remove the board.
